Food distributor website design starts with the buyer who uses the site as a purchasing tool. That is the buyer for a restaurant, hotel, bakery or retail chain, who needs to find a product in a few clicks, check whether it suits their kitchen and send an enquiry. For Towanda, a company that develops, distributes and sells ready-made frozen products for hospitality, bakeries and retail, we built a website that shortens this buyer's path from search to order.
A B2B catalogue instead of an online shop
Towanda does not sell to end consumers, so a classic online shop with a basket made no sense here. We set up the range of around seventy products as a clear catalogue organised by type: chicken, fish, pork and beef, small bites, bakery products and desserts.
Each product has its own page with a description and preparation instructions, and instead of a buy button it leads to an enquiry. The list loads more products as the visitor scrolls, with no paging, and the search in the header finds products by name.
A range organised by type of buyer
A hotel kitchen, a retail chain and an industrial manufacturer look for different products and different information. That is why the business is split into four segments – Gastro, Retail, Manufacture and Desserts – each with its own page. Visitors go straight to the offer for their sector without searching through the whole range.
In food distributor website design, the first impression matters just as much. Food photography, a header video and clear typography show the quality of the products before a buyer asks for a sample or a quote.
SEO for the terms buyers actually search for
We carried out thorough SEO: from the structure of categories and page URLs to copy written for terms such as ready-made frozen products, frozen food and HoReCa. Every category, segment and product has its own title and description for search engines. Today Towanda ranks at the very top of Google for the key terms in its industry.
Speed, security and data protection
A catalogue with dozens of photos has to load quickly on mobile too. Images load only as the visitor approaches them, pages are served from cache and unnecessary shop scripts have been removed from the public part of the site. The result is high Google PageSpeed scores on both desktop and mobile.
Contact forms are protected by invisible spam checks, the system sits behind a firewall, and cookie management and the privacy policy comply with GDPR.
Thank you for your trust
We thank Towanda for their trust and excellent cooperation. We continue to maintain and develop the website together with their team, so it keeps pace with the growing range and new business segments.
