Web design, website building and search engine optimisation in one place – no marketing spin and no filler. We write about what clients actually ask us: how much a website costs, why a design comes back from the printer, how to move a site without losing Google rankings, and what to check before signing with an agency. Every article is based on projects we ran ourselves.

Common questions

What does web design include?

Web design covers the visual look of a site, how content is arranged and how users move through it. It includes the choice of colours and typography, the hierarchy of information, display on mobile devices and the path from the homepage to an enquiry. Good web design is not just aesthetics, but a layout that guides visitors towards a decision.

How do I know if my website is secure?

Check whether the system reports available updates, when each plugin was last updated and whether an automatic backup is stored off the server. In Search Console, open the security issues report. Most attacks are automated and target outdated installations, regardless of the size of the site.

What is the difference between web design and web development?

Web design is the stage where the look and structure are created; development is the technical execution of that design. Some providers only cover one of the two, so the design comes from one party and the programming from another. With us, the same person leads both stages, so no details get lost in the handover.

Does every website have to be GDPR compliant?

Yes, if it collects any personal data – and almost every site with a contact form, analytics or embedded content from other platforms does. A cookie banner on its own is not enough: scripts must not run before consent, and rejecting must be as easy as accepting.

How often should web design be refreshed?

On average every four to six years, depending on the industry. Signs that it is time: the site loads slowly, looks poor on mobile, the content no longer matches what you offer, or traffic is falling for no clear reason. A redesign does not have to mean starting from scratch.

Why does the printer reject files that look fine?

Because screens and paper follow different rules. The most common causes are missing bleed, colours in RGB instead of CMYK, low resolution and fonts that have not been converted to outlines. The design itself can be flawless while the file is technically unusable.

Does web design affect Google rankings?

Yes, although indirectly. Loading speed, mobile display and layout stability are measurable factors that search engines take into account. On top of that, a design that keeps visitors on the page longer sends a positive signal, while a cluttered one has the opposite effect.
